Note:  Some parents  are concerned that The Lord of the Rings movie is not appropriate for younger children due to the battle scenes and scary characters.  The rating is PG-13.

There are many other ways to expose your child to Tolkien, including dramatic readings by NPR, and other websites geared toward the younger set.

A new children's biography of Tolkien, written by Canadian Christian Michael Coren, should soon be available in the United States. J.R.R. Tolkien: The Man Who Created the Lord of the Rings (Stoddart), is a "delightfully written and well-illustrated account of Tolkien's life from his parents' courtship to his death at home near Oxford."
