Meet the Speakers

Jo Zsembery,  Keynote Speaker: Finding Revelation in Your Life.

Jo Zsembery “Manuvering the college jungle as a monkey instead of an elephant!” Jo has homeschooled all her 12 kids' life. She is married to her best friend, Bob and they currently divide their lives between NY and GA, depending on where her husband is working. They are putting together an academy for experiential learning for gifted and at-risk kids and their families.

Paula Bothwell ”Pulling It All Together – and Remembering Where You Put It”
- Have you felt overwhelmed with educating different age-groups, keeping your house tidy (while teaching your children to work), keeping your records (books, curricula, supplies) organized, and keeping your sanity?  Paula Bothwell, a home-educating parent from Roswell, Georgia, will share with you the “nuggets of knowledge” it took ten years for her to learn.  Class participants will receive tools to keep themselves, their families, and their home school running more smoothly and efficiently, without having to re-invent the wheel.  Please bring your ideas and get ready to share!

Corinne & Kurt Schulzke ”Orchestrating Family Music”- Using music to enrich your homeschool program.

Corinne & Kurt Schulzke “Homeschool Safety and the Law”- What do we do to be safe homeschooling?  What are the laws and what are our rights?  What are the procedures I need to follow?

Carolyn Ricker “Homeschooling Through Adversity”- Is all of this “no pain, no gain”?  Or is it “The show must go on”?  OR maybe “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”?  Nope.  Sometimes it is just one foot in front of the other.

Marjorie Lynes “Teaching Gifted and Talented Children”- How can we help them find their place?

Julia Bassett “Homeschool 1,2,3”- Just starting homeschool?  Still new at this?  This class will answer all your questions, i.e. How do I begin?  What do I need to know?  Will I survive? Is it school at home, home school, or what?  What about socialization?

Mischa Holt “20,000 Legos Under the Sea”- What do Legos, Robotics, homeschool, and 20,000 Leagues under the sea have in common?  Come to this class and find out!  You’ll also learn more ways to use Legos in your homeschool.  This is also the class for you if you are interested in starting a First Lego League Team.  Mischa is the coach of an award winning FLL team here in Georgia (all homeschoolers!).  She also teaches many local homeschool classes on Robotics and Legos, along with being the homeschool mom of 3 kids.

Cheryl Hall “Let the Games Begin!”- Making learning fun through games!  Games are a fun way to learn skills and facts.  They are also a great way to test comprehension.  Games can be used from preschool to high-school.  Almost any skill or task can be made into a game with a little creativity and ingenuity.  This class has lots of game ideas and examples.  Plus, easy ways to make your own games.  Come find out about verbal games, manipulative games and card games.  How about games for on the go or waiting for appointments or siblings in classes?  Want to know how to play Spelling Baseball, Jeopardy Review, Mille Bornes Money, President Rack-O, Silly Sentences, Anatomy Match-up and many more?  Let the Games begin!  Cheryl has been homeschooling her kids “from the beginning”, and the oldest one just turned 16.  She and her 3 kids have enjoyed making and using games for learning for many years.
